The opening episode "sets us up for a lot of ongoing drama", Paquin hints. just how far can Robyn push it, before it all comes crumbling down?
Stephen bagged his first TV role in Conjugal Rites in 1993, a TV adaptation of a play. When it didn't go forward, the pitch lay dormant for a while, but she remained determined to bring writer Oliver Lansley's "funny, smart, dark, twisted, amazing" scripts to the screen. But as well as presenting a a female lead who's deeply flawed, One scene in particular, which sees Robyn take down a womanising celebrity chef (Max Beesley) who compares his own experiences with fans to how women are treated, earned a round of applause from the audience at a recent press screening."That was in the script from, like, six years ago," Paquin reveals. He understands the female experience in a way that is kind of extraordinary, considering, y'know, he's a dude!"But both Robyn and the series itself also have a wicked sense of humour, one which Paquin defines as, "Should I be laughing at this? ", adding that it was sometimes "absolutely f**king impossible" to make it through a scene with Sophie Okonedo (who plays Robyn's outrageous boss Caroline) and Lydia Wilson (her straight-talking colleague Eve) without laughing.
Dealing with grief, addiction and romantic complications, Robyn's journey across the first series will see a string of developments – some personal, some professional, some good, some very, very bad – bring the character to "a boiling point" by the end of the series.
She later shouted out Delta’s good service and gave herself a pat on the back for cleverly putting one of her sleeping kids on a moving suitcase — while carrying the other — on the way to baggage claim.
